OOT-OOT – HAND MADE FURNITURE
Case Study
Oot-Oot Studio is furniture design company established by two great designers and friends Marko and Joonas. The keyword to their products is sustainability through durability – the products are designed to withstand the test of time. Quality materials, carefully thought-out design and ergonomics together with enchanting functionality become the cornerstones for the new classics – the products by Oot-Oot represent the values which have been forgotten in time.
In the furniture and especially quality hand-made furniture business, top-of-mind is critical. That is, if consumers can even distinguish your brand from all the other options in their living rooms in their homes. We presented Oot-Oot Studio with a clear directive: Grow share by strengthening the brand’s position in the minds of target consumers. Three main channels for superb sofas, chairs and other hand-made furniture had to be crispy clean web site, social media presence, Google AdWords campaigns and newsletters.
As designers, Oot-Oot founders needed cool web site that will follow their own understanding of minimalist style, vintage and simplicity. And well, it had to be super easy to maintain, because IT isn’t their strongest topics. Because the whole story about online marketing did not make much sence, then they needed help on this topic as well. The Oot-Oot brand required a high-end touch that could not be achieved within the existing site.
To help support Oot-Oot’s brand and business goals, we initiated a comprehensive site design, developing a whole new platform to help better showcase Oot-Oot’s products and enabling users to quickly identify the right product for their needs through faceted search. More of the challenge was to make the content editing as simple as possible. As the web site is built on WordPress, then default editor is pretty limited. Much more flexibility was needed. Therefore, custom made advanced editor was developed with easy way to build pages and new templates. We also created newsletter templates with full integration.
